Lord Ganesha – the son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, is also known as the god of Knowledge and remover of obstacles. Lord Ganesha is portrayed like a Human body with the trunk of an Elephant and with Modak in his hands. Lord Ganesha is also known as Ganapati, Ganesa, Lambodar, Vighneshwar and Ganaraja etc. He is worshipped not only in India but also in other Asian countries like Burma, Sri Lanka, Indonesia etc.

Lord Ganesha is known as the Lord of Mind and in Hindu culture, Ganesh Ji is worshipped before starting any auspicious work or new venture. He is also known as “Sankat Mochan”. It is believed that all the obstacles that arise can be defeated by worshipping Lord Ganesha.

Students who are willing to attain good marks and higher position should pray Lord Ganesha and goddess Saraswati before start studying. Also chanting mantras of Lord Ganesha brings good luck, wealth, money and success. People who want improvement in their income level should pray Lord Ganesha. As per astrology, Wednesday, the day of mercury which represents planet of success is the auspicious day for worshiping Lord Ganesha.
